HCD is seeking a new CEO to lead us through our next exciting phase of development

There is now an exciting opportunity to lead HCD’s team!

HCD’s current Chief Executive Officer is taking a new role to concentrate specifically on our major asset development projects and consequently we are seeking to appoint a new CEO to lead our organisation through its next exciting stage of development.

HCD is a dynamic social enterprise in Hackney which, for over 30 years, has been a pioneer of Community-Led Economic Development. From our establishment as an early Co-operative Development Agency, HCD has continued to provide vital expert support to grow the social economy and is now recognised as one of London’s leading Social Enterprise Development Agencies, which continues to promote the co-operative model, values and ethos. HCD is also a leading provider of Affordable Workspace in Hackney, an accredited training centre supporting those in the borough who are furthest from employment and a community development agency which provides a wide range of activities and events in Gillett Square, a unique public space developed by a partnership led by HCD.

Our new CEO will build on the significant successes of the past few years in terms of growing the social economy in our local area and further afield through the provision of expert advice services from a team of dedicated experts; finding creative and innovative solutions to increasing our portfolio of vital affordable workspaces in Hackney through partnerships with other providers, private sector developers and both local and regional government; growing our provision of training services to both job seekers and employers; and delivering successful community engagement around developments and events programming in Gillett Square. 

Our new CEO should be able to demonstrate attributes of leadership, teambuilding, networking and innovation and have

  • proven track record as a business strategist delivering real results
  • wide knowledge and experience of property developments and commercial premises management
  • experience of genuine community engagement  
  • proven track record of working effectively with partnership organisations
  • a genuine passion to work to achieve significant social value in a community-led organisation

On offer are an attractive annual salary of up to £53,088p.a, a pleasant working environment and the opportunity to work remotely when necessary.
