We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Enterprise Development Manager to join our team

Currently hiring for a Social Enterprise Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced Social Enterprise practitioner to join our growing team, and lead on the development of our support for social enterprises and co-operatives in Hackney, London.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but impactful organisation at an exciting time; on 1st November, HCD hosted the Social Enterprise in the City 2017 event, where the London Borough of Hackney was awarded Social Enterprise Place status by Social Enterprise UK.  The award came as a result of an application compiled by The Hackney Social Enterprise Partnership, which is led by Hackney Co-operative Developments CIC, in partnership with other Hackney based social enterprises.  At the same event, the Mayor of Hackney committed to a Social Enterprise manifesto for the borough, which presents HCD and partners with an exciting opportunity to shape the support available to Social Enterprises.

Our Pioneering Social Enterprise in Hackney programme is supported by UBS, and suitable candidates will have an opportunity to build on the work to date in providing new and growing social enterprises with a range of support.

 Suitable candidates will have:

  • A passion for Social Enterprise and a track record in devising/managing successful social enterprise support programmes
  • Knowledge of the Social Enterprise landscape
  • Experience in working in partnership with local authorities, non-profit organisations and corporate partners/supporters
  • The energy and focus to seize a unique opportunity to support the Social Enterprise ecosystem in Hackney

In return, you will join a small but hard-working and passionate team of staff at HCD (located close to Dalston Junction) and an organisation that has a strong reputation for supporting social enterprises, residents and businesses through our various areas of work.  Our new Chief Executive has been in post for almost five months and the new candidate will have an opportunity to work with him, and colleagues, to help shape how HCD operates over the coming years.

HCD offers a range of volunteering opportunities for local people to get involved in their community.

Whatever your motivation for volunteering in Hackney, HCD can help you access the opportunity to meet your aspirations.

If you are looking for an internship opportunity to develop your understanding of social enterprise or the co-operative movement, we can help shape a role that will develop you and support the work we do to grow the social economy in Hackney.

If you are looking for work placements to help you gain the experience you need to join the job market, HCD can introduce you to businesses that will help and may be able to match you with courses run by HCD or our partners to support you in becoming employment-ready.

If you want to volunteer at community and cultural events that bring entertainment and vibrancy to Dalston town centre, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved as a Friend of Gillett Square, where HCD and partners programme a wide range of events.
