Membership
HCD is keen to build up its free membership in order to enhance its accountability to the local community and interest in its work. We also need to draw upon a wider pool of human resources for Membership of the General Council – HCD’s Board of Directors, as we continue to expand our activities and have to deal with local issues of increasing complexity, responsibility towards our clients and concern with our local environment.
The core of our membership comes from individuals and organisations who are in agreement with objects of the Company and have a close involvement or interest in supporting the development of HCD’s activities in the field of Community Economic Development in Hackney.
General membership of HCD, which is free of charge, gives you the right to attend and vote at general meetings and to receive HCD’s annual report. Membership of the General Council means that you will receive minutes and all reports to its meetings. These meetings are usually held every two months at lunch time and last about two hours. Regular attendance at these meetings is necessary for coming to grips with HCD’s affairs and for board members’ own satisfaction. All members also receive discounted room and equipment hire rates.
By involving yourself in HCD’s affairs you will have an opportunity to experience and contribute to the coalface of practitioner-led regeneration. Whilst this involvement is unpaid, the information and experience gained and the opportunities for networking which arise have much practical, intellectual and spiritual value in advancing our common aims and objectives. If you agree with HCD’s aims and objectives and are not already a member but wish to apply, please do so by downloading, completing and returning our membership application form.
